Madhubani Art/Mithila painting, is a traditional art form that came into production in the Mithal region of Bihar (INDIA). It is noted for its sophisticated designs, elaborate symbolism and the use of bright colors derived from natural dyes. They were traditionally done by women in the rural households on walls and floors during festivals or special occasions. This includes the portrayal of birds, animals, flowers and gods with these three references often being combined into a single image. Madhubani Art has many styles like bharni, kachni, tantrik godna and Kohbar with some of their own salient features. This ancient art form has transcended its regional origins, capturing the world with its distinctive aesthetic and cultural wealth.
