I am facing a dilemma with multiple topics(niches) wordpress website and SEO.
I want multiple topics wordpress blog and good SEO.
What I usually encounter is that everybody warns against multiple niches because it “waters down” page authority.
I will try to explain what conclusions I came to and how would i go about it.
Please correct me if Im wrong and give your point of view, how to and technique.
Yes, problem that remains is that more topics means more work and slower ranking. But you can focus on one topic at time so not a problem really.
Question is how to have a many topics but not lose authority compared to similar content on single niche sites (considering everything else equal).
What to do about it and why..
Heres what i managed to gather:
Divide niches into categories and create a separate page for each.
Niches are now divided into subdirectories.
https://domain.com/niche1
https://domain.com/niche2
(set permalinks in wordpress settings to show /%category%/%postname%/, put a . in category base to remove the extra category word from permalinks)
Main topic gets the homepage , other topics get subdirectories
Publishing each niche topic only its category and dont include posts in the main archive page.
Now for the SEO part.
Multi topics is as I gather the same problem for SEO as multilingual sites.
Heres an article that explains multilingual problem and solution
Subdomain vs Subdirectory: Which One is Better for Multilingual SEO?
Create a separate sitemap.xml for each topic(niche, category, subdirectory).
Having multiple sitemaps is good for seo even if you dont have multiple topics.

Not mentioning subdomains here as it is regarded like separate websites by page rank.
With subfolders the only downside is the look of the link when you post it somewhere.
You will have to post links to that category directly when you advertise( or backlinking) to train google to view your page as a clean multi niche site instead of just the domain and linking it in the menu.
Use Rankmath free plugin to create multiple custom sitemaps.
Name them each differently, after for example your niches, niche1-sitemap.xml, niche2-sitemap.xml and if you want break it down even more..
niche1-sitemap.xml, niche1-posts-sitemap.xml, niche1-images-sitemap.xml
niche2-sitemap.xml, niche2-posts-sitemap.xml, niche2-images-sitemap.xml
The main sitemap.xml should also be one niche only ( to include links to other niche categories or not?)
Add additional sitemaps to robots.txt.
Sitemap: http://domain.com/sitemap.xml
Sitemap: http://domain.com/niche1-sitemap.xml
(all sitemaps are ok in home directory but you can also put them in their own subdirectory Sitemap: http://domain.com/niche1/niche1-sitemap.xml)
I would make these using rankmath (if not why not?)
Take care to set up sitemaps correctly and to publish articles in the correct category and everything should be SEO gold.
If done this way (or similar?) is it possible to have better page rank than similar single niche site?
Or is it that whatever you do Google will like simple concetrated sites better than large multi topic ones?
OK, this is my two cents..
Thanks for reading this.
Please, if you disagree, comment and possibly write down how would you do it, what plugins etc…
If you are sure it is not possible to do it this or any way please explain a bit.
Ok thanks everybody
