CompactFlash(CF) originally introduced in 1994 by SanDisk, is a small solid-state electronic flash memory storage device commonly used in various electronic devices, especially where mobile storage is required.
CompactFlash has no moving mechanical parts. It does not rely on batteries to hold data because it is based on non-volatile flash memory and data is not lost even if power is turned off. In addition, CompactFlash has anti-magnetic and shock-proof characteristics, which can work normally in harsh environments.
In short, the CompactFlash card is a data storage device based on flash memory technology, widely used in various portable electronic devices.
1. Use a CF card reader
If your computer does not have abuilt-in CompactFlash card slot, you need to use anexternal CF card reader. Connect the card reader to the USB port on your computer and insert the CF card into the appropriate slot on the card reader.
2. Check the device connection
After inserting the CF card, open the Finder to see if the CF card is displayed. If it does, you can directly open and access the files.
3. Install the driver
If theCompactFlashcard is not automatically recognized after insertion, you may need to install a driver for the card reader. At this point, you need to install the drive before opening CompactFlash and accessing the files.
Usually, macOS recognizes the card reader automatically. However, if the device is older, you may need to download the appropriate driver from the manufacturer’s website.
