I’m exploring the possibility of training small to mid-sized AI/ML models locally and was wondering if modern Intel Core i9 laptops are viable for this purpose. Specifically, I’m looking at models with 32GB+ RAM, dedicated GPUs (like RTX 4070/4080), and good thermals.

Has anyone here successfully trained models on-device using frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch? Any bottlenecks I should watch out for—thermal throttling, limited VRAM, or CPU-GPU data transfer issues?

Would love to hear real-world experiences or hardware recommendations.
